Damp Golf

DATE: Tuesday 8th May 2012
VENUE: Falconwood Golf Course, Addington Golf Centre
ACTIVITY: 18 Hole round

I scored 105 today (50 out, 55 back). Two pars, five bogeys and four double-bogeys, a chip in on the 1st and only one 3-putt. Also, no double-figure scores on any one hole. Of the rest only two were worse than 3-over (an 8 and a 9).

The conditions were interesting as it had clearly rained all night long making the greens distinctly squelchy…so much so many of the cups were full of water.

Driver shots were OK-ish but got better when I started to use the correct height tee (!) during the back nine, in which I managed a drive of 172yds and another of 183.

Fairways shots were a mixture of good and bad but certainly the ones where I remembered to turn the hips to start the shot were almost invariably good.

Shots in general still have a tendency to drift right but I rarely slice these days so clearly things are improving.

Pitch shots were ‘meh’. Chip shots good, putting good (average of 1.8 putts).

Tomorrow, I have a one-hour playing lesson with Jon after work. Can’t wait.
