No, I wasn’t referring to the rock band from Northern Ireland but I was referring to Jellyfish, a band which released just two albums (Bellybutton and Spilt Milk) of ridiculously good power pop before splitting up in 1994. Sure the Beatles, Beach Boys and Queen influences were obvious, but then they wore said influences on their sleeves.

Check it out:

So, how has my club career been going?

Rubbishly. Everyone in the club is very nice, friendly, and helpful but my word I’ve played badly in all four of the competitions I’ve taken part in. Scores of 111, 113, 123 and 110 were most definitely NOT expected.

I had some good moments here and there (scoring bogey on all the par 3s in the first round was pretty cool – at least on reflection – and scoring bogey on holes 2, 3 and 4 was a nice way to steady the ship after scoring nine on the 1st hole of the 3rd round) but there are too many penalty shots, and triples, and quads to score respectably.

It’s actually been a little bit depressing.

And yet, a couple of Fridays ago I played a round at Sundridge Park (West Course) – a proper golf club course which is pretty tricky in places (not to mention one that I’d never played before!) – and finished with a 98 (four pars and six bogeys overall, and just 45 shots on the back nine)!

This game makes no sense, I tell ya!

Will you be doing a 2014 Review in a manner similar to a year ago? All your fans have been waiting for weeks and months in anticipation of another entry to the blog.

All your fans have been waiting…“, all three of them…

    I will do something yes.

To answer your – sent separately from WordPress – question “When are you going to update your website?“, I guess when I’ve got something to say that isn’t repetitious of previous entries. Too many times I seem to have written something along the lines of “I hit some good shots but too many bad ones to get a good score…”
